I attended the school from 1959 to 1967. The teacher who influenced me most was ‘Charley’ our geography teacher. He took us everywhere for X country running and athletics together being a friend. At lunch times he would take out time and train us in the gymn, Thanks to Charley I have kept active all my life. The other was Mr Hazard ( Hope I have spelt his name correctly) he taught maths. He retired when I was in sixth form.
I attended Millom School from 1954 until 1969 and then got a maths degree at Cambridge, followed by a PGCE at London. I taught maths near Lincoln for a couple of years before moving into computing, where I spent the rest of my career, most of it with Lincolnshire County Council. I retired (very early!) in 1995 and am now a part-time tutor with the Open University.
I am married to Rosemary and we have 3 sons, Richard, Robert and Jonathan. Rosemary is a pianist and piano teacher.
